1 lb dried great northern beans or navy beans (soaked overnight)
2 lbs smoked ham hocks (bone-in for maximum flavor)

4 cloves garlic, minced
8 cups low-sodium chicken broth or filtered water
2 bay leaves
1 teaspoon dried thyme

Instructions
Drain and rinse the soaked beans thoroughly under cold water.
