Have you ever taken your most beautiful glasses out of the cupboard for a dinner party with friends and discovered that there was a whitish coating that ruined everything? We’ve all experienced that moment of discouragement… But before you think about replacing them, you should know that there are simple, natural and really effective solutions that can give them a new lease of life without harsh products or unnecessary costs.
Why does glass become covered with a white coating?
This slightly milky coating is often associated with limescale deposits in the water, especially in certain regions of France. This can be exacerbated by using too much detergent, the wrong wash cycle or not drying them properly. The result: over time, glassware loses its shine, even if it is perfectly clean.
A natural tip: salt and lemon to restore shine.
When glass becomes dull, the lemon-salt duo is a surefire solution. The lemon’s natural whiteness helps dissolve these residues, while the salt acts as a gentle scrub. Cut a lemon in half, gently rub the glass, then add a pinch of baking soda and repeat. Rinse thoroughly with a little dish soap, and voilà: your glasses are much cleaner.
