Honey Garlic Ribs
Ingredients:
For the Ribs:
2 racks baby back ribs (about 3-4 lbs)
Salt and pepper, to taste
1 tsp smoked paprika (optional)
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp chili powder (optional)
For the Honey Garlic Sauce:
1/2 cup honey
1/4 cup soy sauce
4 cloves garlic, minced
2 tbsp rice vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)
2 tbsp hoisin sauce (optional)
1 tbsp sesame oil
1/2 tsp ground ginger
1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
Preparation:
Prepare the Ribs: Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C). Remove the silver skin from the ribs (the thin membrane on the back) by sliding a knife under it and pulling it off. Season the ribs generously with salt, pepper, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and chili powder (if using).
Bake the Ribs: Place the ribs on a baking sheet lined with foil and cover with another piece of foil. Bake for 2.5-3 hours, or until the ribs are tender and easily pull apart with a fork.
Make the Honey Garlic Sauce: While the ribs are baking, make the sauce. In a small saucepan, combine honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, rice vinegar, hoisin sauce (if using), sesame oil, ginger, and red pepper flakes (if using). Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Let it simmer for 5-7 minutes, or until the sauce thickens slightly.
Glaze the Ribs: Once the ribs are done baking, remove them from the oven and discard the top layer of foil. Brush the honey garlic sauce generously over the ribs, coating them evenly.
Grill or Broil: Preheat your grill or broiler. If grilling, cook the ribs over medium heat for 5-7 minutes per side, basting with more honey garlic sauce and turning frequently to avoid burning. If broiling, broil the ribs for 5-7 minutes, flipping halfway through and brushing with sauce.
Serve: Once the ribs are nicely caramelized and crispy on the outside, remove them from the grill or broiler. Let them rest for a few minutes before slicing into individual ribs.
Enjoy your sticky,
