📝 Instructions
Prepare the BBQ Chicken Wings: Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels. In a large bowl, toss the wings with 2 tablespoons olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, black pepper, and salt until evenly coated. Let them marinate for at least 30 minutes at room temperature, or ideally an hour in the refrigerator. Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).
Bake the Chicken Wings: Arrange the marinated wings in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway, until they are golden brown and cooked through.
Make the Halal BBQ Glaze: While the wings are baking, combine all BBQ glaze ingredients (ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, soy sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, cayenne pepper) in a small saucepan. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, then reduce heat to low and cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly.
Glaze the Wings: Once the wings are baked, remove them from the oven. Brush generously with the prepared BBQ glaze, ensuring all sides are coated. Return the wings to the oven for another 10-15 minutes, or until the glaze is caramelized and sticky, flipping once.
Cook the Crispy Fries: While the glazed wings finish cooking, prepare your fries. If using an oven, toss the frozen fries with 1 tablespoon olive oil, salt, and pepper, then spread them in a single layer on a separate baking sheet. Bake according to package directions until golden and crispy. (Alternatively, air fry them for an even crispier result.)
