Cheesy Cabbage Steak Burgers with Ground Beef

Step 1: Prep the cabbage
Preheat your oven to 400ºF (200ºC). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
Cut the cabbage into 1-inch thick slices. Carefully place the slices flat on the baking sheet. Brush each with a bit of olive oil and sprinkle with salt and black pepper.

Step 2: Roast the cabbage
Roast the cabbage slices in the preheated oven for 10 minutes. This softens them slightly while giving the edges a beautiful caramelized flavor.

Step 3: Mix the beef patties
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef with garlic, chopped green onions, parsley, chili flakes, half the cheese (¼ cup), salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly until everything is evenly distributed.
Shape the mixture into 4 equal-sized round patties.

Step 4: Assemble the cabbage burgers
Remove the cabbage from the oven after 10 minutes.
On top of each cabbage slice, spread a tablespoon or two of tomato sauce (or ketchup), then gently place a beef patty on top. Sprinkle the remaining cheese on top of each patty.

Step 5: Bake the assembled dish
Return the tray to the oven and bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the patties are cooked through and the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Step 6: Serve
Remove from the oven, sprinkle with additional fresh parsley or green onions if desired, and serve hot.
