Ingredients:

1/2 cup packed brown sugar
12 maraschino cherries, halved
1 cup pineapple chunks or crushed pineapple, well drained
For the Cupcake Batter

1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup unsalted butter, softened
1/2 cup milk
1 large egg
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
